Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Awareness Week (1st – 7th October 2024)

October 1 - October 7

1-7 OCTOBER  Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Awareness Week

The 2024 theme for BPD Awareness is ‘Living Life Well: Recovery & BPD’

The BPD Awareness Week theme for 2024 is focussed on living life well. Everyone is on their own journey and the word ‘recovery’ may mean different things to different people. It takes time, effort and patience. Be kind to yourself and celebrate progress, no matter how small. You are worthy! Our aim is to offer hope – and research shows that with appropriate treatment and support people with BPD ‘recover’ and lead a life that’s meaningful to them.

For carers – (people supporting a family member/friend living with BPD) recovery may mean different things for us than for the person we are supporting. It’s important we develop our own support network and learn healthy relationship skills to maintain our own well-being.

For clinicians – learning more about BPD will improve our willingness, understanding and capacity to offer treatment and support for people living with BPD. This increases our own well-being, job satisfaction and reduces burn out.

For people with lived experience – How can we encourage others to feel that recovery is possible, and is an achievable goal? It is of vital importance we hear your experience of living with BPD and the process of finding ways of living life well.
